Trauma Exposed Students

This workshop will define Trauma, Types of Trauma, and changes that occur neurologically and biologically when an individual has been exposed to trauma. We will discuss Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) and ways in which health, learning, and behaviors are impacted in trauma-exposed children. Behavior adaptations and communication impairments will be reviewed to analyze how children communicate. Significant focus will be made on triggers and ways to create environments that support the functional needs of children. There will be emphasis on addressing healing through trauma-informed practices inclusive of attachment and significant relationship building as well as appropriate treatment and referral.
